About Digital Impact North

Digital Impact North is a digital innovation hub established to contribute to Northern Sweden as one of Europe's leading regions in IT, artificial intelligence, and digitization, known for delivering and attracting through cross-border collaboration.

Since the autumn of 2023, Digital Impact North has been part of the European Digital Innovation Hub Network (EDIH)

The initiative is led by Umeå University and its IT institutions, in collaboration with Region Västerbotten, Umeå Municipality, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), and RISE Umeå. Together with businesses, municipalities, and research entities in northern Sweden, the goal is to establish the region as an internationally strong area for the development of the future digital society.

Digital Impact North aims to contribute to a region that, at the highest international level, generates knowledge, innovations, technology solutions, and growth companies. It also seeks to attract talent, businesses, financiers, and investors despite increasingly tough global competitive conditions. The region aspires to have a globally competitive IT sector, an innovative and expanding business environment, strong research, leading educational programs, and a growing number of stakeholders determined to make a difference in a world undergoing rapid and intense change.

The vision of Digital Impact North is to create one of the leading European regions in terms of strategic digitization and the smart, sustainable society. A society that is considered pioneering in basic industries, healthcare, urban planning, and internationally leading in several IT-related knowledge and technology domains.
